This was an excellent day. A meeting of like-minded, passionate about art people.
We had arranged to meet when I came to Paris and this would be the day. ‘I am tallish and have reddish hair’. ‘And you have a camera over one eye’ says I. We would meet on one side of the Pomidou Centre, and have coffee somewhere and get to know one another in person.
Somehow Glenys and I managed to walk round the other 3 sides before we hit the right bit. And there she was. Andrea. What a delight it was. We found a quiet cafe and ordered coffee and just fell upon each others sketch books. Soooo great to hear another artist talking about their work, when they do it, how they do it and the constant search for improvement. The time just flew and suddenly we were saying Au Revoir. Until the next time. There will be many next times. It was wonderful.
So off we went, Glenys and I, to do a drawing or two. We were happy with any little view that caught our eye, and I do apologise but cafes are great spots to eat drink and draw. We try not to but honestly that’s where the action is and plenty of it. There are cars and trucks and traffic jams constantly on this street, but it doesn’t worry me and I don’t feel I need them in the drawing. Anyway how could i fit them in.
We also did some sketches at Place des Vosges, so that might be the next to be posted. The days are flat out, and I do thank people for the gorgeous comments you are sending me about my explorations. I will respond when I’ve had some sleep. Bon nuit.
