Vicki Grace – Meditations – Exhibition

The Invitation

The Invitation

This lovely invitation shows details from Vicki Grace’s newest paintings.

The show is being held in her own studio in Newtown, Sydney. It’s a large old converted warehouse, with huge wall space and perfect for the large works that Vicki produces.

I loved that she is using quite strong colour combinations for this show, but counter balanced with more muted ones. As she says ‘ Yin & yang’.

Vicki paints emotions. A keen yoga person, she regularly trots off to an Ashram in India to pursue and explore what makes her ( us ) tick. Her paintings are like life –  many layers peeling back to show the truth of what’s beneath. Sometimes soft and moody, sometimes loud and clear. But all require some thinking, and you can’t help but do that.

It was a beautiful show with small to large paintings, mainly oil, but a couple of acrylics, plus a fascinating video of the work, made by Morgan Fiebig, a young film maker who is headed to New York shortly to follow her dream. The many red spots topped off the success of the show.

Just to conclude the evening, a large group of her fans celebrated with dinner at ‘Cotton Duck’, a favourite restaurant in Surrey Hills.

Vicki is joining us on the next ‘Girls painting adventure’ in Sicily. We girls all have such different approaches to our work and it will be fab to have her with us, exploring and exchanging some great ideas.
