Sketching Week 7. Transport and Complimentary Colours

For Week 2 New Sketchers the class was about leaving whites, colour techniques and how to compose a sketch. Whites on top. Darks in behind.

Cakes in the Studio and a pathway at Gilbert Park were the subjects to practice these skills on. Cafe Cridas was this week’s coffee refueling station.

Some great results from you all.

Transport was our subject for all classes in Week 7.  Included this week was ‘which colours look good together.’ We made several groups of 4 complimentary colours in our books for future reference.

Sketching a bicycle on the whiteboard from memory caused a lot of mirth. Once everyone had done their best we brought out a model bike to see what they really look like. Lots of Ah ha moments.

Motorcycles outside Bar Bacino were just what we needed. Some great looking machines were sketched with jazzy colours to add some pizzazz.

Fika Swedish Kitchen have hosted us this week and we’ve enjoyed the daily special, and discovered their cardamon rolls. OMG! Meantime motorcycles and colour were being completed in between mouthfuls.

I can see that by this week, sketchers who were once a little shy with colour are now loading the brush and sweeping it on. With great results.

An excellent series of sketches once again everyone. Your tutors feel very proud.
