Sketching Week 6. Glass & Bottles

This week we were studying the look of glass. They way you can see through it.. The colours you can layer to get translucency. The impression of glass. That’s what we were after.

Our studio set up was very simple and you’d work to get the look of glass. All we want is the impression and that came across very well. De Vita Italian restaurant provided us with an excellent bar for sketching multiple bottles in varying colours and sizes.

The new Sketchers had the challenge of rounded bases in their ‘garden’ still life. Once you’re aware that there are no pointy corners on something round, your impression works. The location was the little cottages nearby for ‘flat perspective’. A great way to get into architecture without worrying about angles. I find this a quick and easy way to sketch the character of a building wherever you are.

You’ll see now the progress you are all making no matter how long you’ve been sketching.. Yes we all have ups and downs but overall your confidence is shining through.
