Sketching Week 7 Term 3. Beach & Beyond

We like to give you an easier class every now and then, so this was the week.

For our New Sketchers in Week 2,  a little bit of House and Garden, learning how we use colour on both still life and outdoor subjects. White tops and sides. Dark down the centre. It works and it’s fast.

For other classes it was Week 7.  This would be about sea sand and sky.  Obviously we would need blue skies and sun.

So what was the weather forecast for the week? Stormy weather coming out of black clouds – every day! Amazingly we managed to get our beach sketches done without raindrops falling on our heads.  Our beach and sea theme lets you work away on delicious colour without worrying about too much structure.

Watermelon Homewares lent us a very tasteful still life grouping which every class has enjoyed.  Lots of whites and soft aqua details meant looking closely at how you’d get the effect.

Then to Manly Beach we headed. Once everyone decided where to sit the sketch could be either direction- beach and distance.  Everyday the colours were different and your sketches this week reflect those differences. Quite beautiful. Great work everyone.
