Sketching Week 6. Term 4 ’15. Cottage Flowers and Gardens

Week 6 has been a challenging one for New Sketchers and a beautiful one for General classes.

We need both in sketching. It’s a learning, observing journey.  Seeing where eye level is for the first time is very new to most people.  But when you realise how it works, and it’s the key to all your outdoor sketching, a new world opens.

General classes had gorgeous flowers and even a koi garden this week, between showers. The ideal pretty sketch. But that pesky perspective still sneaks in.  We were pushing it along a bit, partly because of the weather. 15mins sketch and colour. When the time is up you move on. No need to colour the whole thing, just a dash will do it. Time is often short and we want to get the main shapes down in our impression.

Welcome to our New Sketchers starting their 5 week course this week.  You’ll see those first lines turning into something beautiful. Yes you did it.
