It really feels like Christmas when we have our last class of term.
Hot weather, kids on holidays, office parties full volume in all the restaurants. Yes it’s not long to go.
General classes had a journey to the city and created a sketch Journal of the day. Some classic icon sketches, starting with the world famous Sydney Opera House, turn the other way and you have the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Off we trotted along streets lined with old hotels, terrace houses and warehouses with fascinating lanes and alleyways, and lots of cafes, tea shops and smart restaurants. Everything a sketch. OMG. What to pick.
Everyone so enjoyed our day out in this historic part of Sydney, and were delighted with all the pages filled. True travel sketching. Just an impression. Get it down. Move on. Colour only if you get a minute to slap some on.
Wednesday New Sketchers were meeting under the trees at Manly Wharf. For the last lesson of week 10, Toni had a surprise. Take this list of 10 subjects, find them And sketch them all before lunch. A lot of laughs all round. A great last class.
Saturday New Sketchers completed their 5 weeks with ‘flat perspective’. Meaning standing square on to your building and simply putting down it’s proportions. The Christmas tree added a nice focus.
Terrific work this term everybody. You’ve come on in leaps and bounds.
See you back next term for more fun sketching adventures.
