Sketching Week 4 Term 1.Books Angles and Lemons

Suddenly it’s week 4 and we’re certainly making excellent progress as we move through our 10 week program.

For New Sketchers it’s the watercolour week.

Much of the learning using w’colour pencils will now be continued as we learn the paint names and how they too work as layers.

The chinagraph pencil is a mystery at first. Not knowing quite where you’ve scribbled is part of the fun.

All will be revealed as you apply your first layer of yellow ochre.

Aahhhhh…… All those whites are suddenly there and looking great.

For General Sketching it was using words and signage as a feature in your sketches with a dash of perspective thrown in.

I’m hearing people say they’re beginning ‘to get it’ now. All the tutors are feeling this. Get that lil ol eye level sorted and all else seems to work.

You’ll see from the sketches this week that our bookshop was very well handled. A little more tricky because of the angles of the frontage and down an arcade. Not a perfect corner as were used to, but you’re now seeing that.
