Half way there and half way to go.
The journey is going well. And we have achieved much.
For New Sketchers it was flat perspective. This one teaches you to observe those shapes in architecture straight on, without worrying about angles. Great for travel when you want a sketch of a fascinating little ‘hole in the wall or shophouse, be it Tokyo or Paris. Look for the big main shape and so on.
Then we worked out a soft colour palette for our houses. We’re not matching anything. Just making a pleasing sketch with colour we’re happy with.
For General Sketchers it was the challenges of elipses and rounds. Remember the 30 second hot coffee you sketched on your first day? You didn’t think twice and it worked. That seems to be part of the secret. Just put down exactly what you see. Don’t overthink it.
Then a view down The Corso where you could clearly see where the vanishing points met eye level. If you remember that the horizon is your eye level, it’s a breeze.
I’m sure everyone nodded in unison when that was pointed out. It’s not often all that info is there.
Great work everyone. You survived another week and came up trumps. OMG no no I cannot use that word. You succeeded in your challenge let’s say.
