Sketching Week 7. Fast People and more

Sometimes we like to have a ‘soft’ sketch week. We’ve had plenty of ‘oh dear’ kinda weeks and although everyone makes enormous progress, it’s nice to relax and ‘play’

New Sketchers were doing ‘fast people’ and not a whimper. No ‘oh people are hard’ when faced with a  20 sec sketch of a human – you just get cracking.  When you have a few pages of these, you realise that people are just shapes. Like everything.  You’ll see some delightful people sketches from every student.

General classes were surprised to see a watering can on the Studio tables with big spindly branches sticking out.  Subject, ‘through the trees’.  Dark foreground and soft beyond. Here we could sketch anyone we could see through the foliage.

On location at a glorious spot above the yacht clubs, more foreground and softer background.  It seemed everyone really enjoyed their day in the sun, the cerulean water sparkling below, a dash of sap green surrounds and a spot of red. An excellent week all round.

Next week is week 8 and the last before the Easter break. Thanks everyone for another lovely week. Your tutors are feeling very proud of you.
