Week 1 Term 2.Sketching Nature

Our 2 week break is over and we’re back full steam ahead into our classes. Back with our sketching buddies. Back finding ever more sketch locations which are under our nose but which we’ve not noticed before. Of course back finding another cafe is something of an art form for us.

New people will by now have found that with their first observation class that the world is indeed made of shapes. You’ll probably never see it any other way from now on.  As you take each class more of these will reveal themselves. The hibiscus is a great way to begin – with the big simple petal shapes and pure colour.

Meanwhile in the Greek isles we’re doing the same as you. Observing shapes. To help with page planning we’re doing a portrait and landscape thumbnail before we start a sketch. Our sketchers are commenting on what a huge difference this makes. You work out all the issues  and where the shapes will go before you begin.

Take a look at the sketches for this week.
