Week6 Term2. Teacups & Eyelevel

For some week 6 has been to immerse oneself  in cake eating and sketching, for charity of course. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.

For others it was one of the most essential lessons we do. Eye level perspective. Getting yourself from your pesky left brain and into your calm right brain is the clue to ‘getting’ this. So a week of contrasts indeed.

Weather has been another challenge everywhere. I do congratulate those who were wrapped in wet weather gear and trying something new at the same time. For others of course the weather meant less. Munching – and sketching homemade cakes is even nicer when tucked up inside with the rain beating against the windows.

It’s also the first time we’ve ever had to cancel an Intensive. Weather warnings were going to be impossible for those flying in from another city. Wow. Must be something to behold.

Here in Europe we’ve had floods and rain too. Luckily now we are getting our sunny days back and it’s looking beautiful again. We have the big important Cerise Festival (Cherry) here in Trausse on Sunday. Bunting is up. Stalls being erected and much merriment will take place. One of my students and myself will take this chance to sketch the goings on.

All the sketches have been a pleasure to see. The skills you are picking up week by week are evident. Your tutors are very proud to see how far you’ve come. Of course there’s always more to learn, but If you are able to begin to see the world in shapes you’re on your way. And when you do. Everything falls into place.

I am now halfway through the NZ Erin Hill sketching course, and I just want to say how much I’m loving it! I was one of those people who thought they’d never be able to do anything like this!
Tony, our tutor is fantastic! Thank you so much for bringing this to NZ.

    • I’m so delighted to hear your kind words. Tony is wonderful and has learned the EHS system with a passion. Knowing that you have discovered that you can sketch is the best reward for me. Thank you and long may you sketch.

      • Really kind words both – its easy when you really love what you do ( like I do ) and can share the gift with others so keen to learn like you Angela. Like Erin said this is the greatest reward…
