Sunday Workshop. Learning to See

Sunday February 12 ’17.

We’d had some requests to run another New Workshop very soon after the previous one, because some missed out.

A lovely mix of sketchers keen to gain those core skills and feel more confident when sketching on their own whether on Gold Coast or elsewhere where our classes are not yet available.

Once we’re all gathered to start our day, we have tea or coffee, get to know our fellow Sketchers and our sketch Kits.

Then into the first observation skills we go. Seeing. Observing. Planning the page. Taking ownership of what we’re sketching. Great work from everyone and now relaxing before the next sketch.

Out on location we observed and sketch a Crepe Myrtle tree. Seeing it’s form. How it’s constructed. Then our simple colour layering. Nice work.

Hunger was getting the better of us so Agadir was our place to sort that out. Moroccan style foods with sketchable dishes where we could start our watercolour paint demo.

Energy levels were restored a little and we tossed in one last quick ‘people’ sketch.

That fear of ‘people sketching’ runs high. We’ll can you believe. Everyone succeeded.

Time to be on our way, and it was farewell to a very happy group, all having learned many of the tricks of EHS Travel Sketching.

Next Workshop is Sunday February 26. Colour and Collage. Anyone who has completed a New Sketchers Workshop or our General Sketchers past and present will enjoy this one.

Great work from travel sketchers who had never sketched before.
