As always, we have a celebratory class when we reach our last class for the term. A fabulous location is chosen, and we celebrate. We have achieved so much during term. For some it was the first tentative steps of making our marks on paper, for others we have continued to sketch whilst life goes on around us. We have made new friends, had many wonder filled experiences and our life as sketchers makes life well worth living! See many of you again, next term. Enjoy your break.
Manly Tuesday General
Week 10 adventure to beautiful North Head. We started with coffee and a quick vista sketch at Bella Vista cafe. The heads and city skyline stunning under huge blue spring sky. Then off to sketch the wildflowers and to enjoy some peaceful sketching time at the quarantine cemetery. A new surprise spot for most of our sketchers, a solemn
beautiful place to be. Then lunch together to celebrate the end of our term together. Thanks to everyone for an inspiring & creative time. Keep up the great work!
The Blue Mountains Thursday General
We had a make up class this week for the class we missed on animals. Laura brought the bunny, and the studio budgie posed beautifully. Childrens books are wonderful inspiration and of course, the plastic animals and encyclopaedias! A lovely day sketching animals, experimenting with new techniques and sketching a moving subject!
Manly Thursday General
Sunshine, sketching and good cheer. A lovely way to finish off our 10 week term. I’m so happy you all enjoyed the magic of sketching at North Head. See you next term for more creative surprises!
Manly Thursday Evening General
Noisy, colourful, spicy, our last sketch night at Manly Mexican was too noisy for conversation so good for sketching! Well done to such a lovely keen group, see you next term!
Manly Friday General
It was wall to wall sketchers up at Bella Vista today as our friday new and friday general group converged.
The harbour demanded to be sketched in all her glory before we headed up the pathway to Quarantine cemetery no. 3, timing it perfectly to coincide with the absolute hottest part of the day! Some truly fabulous sketches emerged, the culmination of a great term together, so thank you everyone.
Manly Friday New Sketchers
Another glorious day of coffee & sketching. Do take the time to leaf through your sketch books to appreciate just how much you’ve learnt over the last 10 weeks. I hope it makes you smile to see how far you’ve come on your sketching journey. Happy travels and we hope to see you again soon!
The Rocks Friday New Sketchers
Sketching at The Governors House.
Arriving at The Governors House opened our eyes to one of the most spectacular places to visit and sketch. We could easily have spent the day sketching all the beautiful vistas and the historical house.
Our group was very small today and we missed one of our other sketching members, Robyn.
The main house was closed an so were the top gardens, but that did not affect our sketching material.
We all decided to sketch the base of the trunk of this magnificient Tall Tree. Then the side entrance to the Governors House as well as the surrounding gardens.
As we walked around we were surprised by another idyllic space. We decided to sketch the outer gardens and the front of the house.
After sketching our subjects we popped over the road to a lovely cafe where we enjoyed delicious
coffee and eats, and continued to add watercolour to our sketches.
The Governors House is now on our “go to” list for more sketching times.
What a great day to end our term.
Thank you, to you lovely ladies from the Rocks New Sketchers.
Manly Saturday General
Another glorious Spring day overlooking the harbour. To sketch that huge vista as a warm up, and nail it, shows how far you’ve come! Wildflowers and gravestones with poignant inscriptions were our next subject of choice, followed by a delicious well-earned brunch. Huge thanks to Bella Vista cafe for being so welcoming and for the steady supply of clean painting water! See you next term. It’s been my pleasure tutoring you!
Manly Saturday New Sketchers
Today we enjoyed learning about proportions and sketching people in the studio.
We sketched the mannequin noting the proportions of the body. We then did 2x20min sketches of different poses.
We took a leisurely walk to Crinitis where we had a delicious lunch with drinks and coffee.
We enjoyed observing and sketching people at Crinitis.
It was a pleasure to spent a morning and end week 10 with such lovely company, thank you.
