Come and enjoy the freedom of travel sketching. Erin will guide you through the first stages with my foundation sketching techniques. No previous art experience needed. Before the week is over you’ll be sketching happily,
Our Sketch Holidays are perfect if you are on your own, or travelling with a friend or two. You’ll find the the bond of sketching means you already have lots in common with your new companions.
We meet at Pisa airport on the first day at 12 noon We’ll be picked and driven the hour or so to our home for the rest of the week. We’ll be headed to the Garfagnana region and the hilltop village of Barga where we’ll stay at the beautiful farmhouse estate of our host. At the conclusion of the week, we’ll be back at Pisa airport or Lucca station by 10.00 am.
Chris is a very established exhibiting painter, and with his wife Krysia, will be our hosts for the time we are residing there. This is a magical experience saying in the old farmhouse and home of our hosts. You are looked after hand and foot with nothing to do but sketch and enjoy the time. They have lived for many years in Italy and have all the knowledge of locals. Chris will be taking us to the many wonderful and seemingly undiscovered sketching locations around this part of Tuscany.
Each morning there’ll be an enticing continental breakfast which we can have out on the terrace by the pool, or in the dining room then an hour or so of sketching techniques.
During the week we will cover as many sketch subjects as we can which capture the essence of where we are. You can add tickets, cafe receipts, brochures, maps etc to create added interest to your travel sketch journal.
Our location of the day may be a tiny walled village, or part of the old town in Barga, a faraway cantina with a lunch of local produce. Some days we come home for lunch and other days have it on location. Each day is different and you’ll learn to sketch everything around you without fear.
Afternoons are free to swim relax or keep on sketching. Pre dinner aperitifs are about 7pm followed by dinner at home or in the old town.
By the end of this glorious week you’ll have a sketchbook filled with sketches and each one a story in itself. Come and join us. Life is too short.
