'Taste of Sketching' February Workshop

Happy Sketchers in the Gazebo

February ‘Taste of Sketching’ Workshop on a hot steamy Sunday. That’s February for you in this part of the world. Very humid as well, but we survived the day very well.

Most were new to sketching but everyone always enjoys starting at the beginning with Travel Sketching, no matter how far up the ladder they be already. Nothing like getting to grips again with those first important steps. Plus a good tea or coffee with some yummy biscuits sets the scene.

I picked some hibiscus on a nearby tree for our starting off sketch.
With the demos and careful guidance I find everyone understands what we’re looking for to get those flowers on a page, and where we want them. We applied aquarelle pencil in layers to get beautiful rich colour.

After our French Baguette lunch with a glass of Rose, and some strawberries, we were ready to begin the afternoon sketch of a lemon tree.
Now we would move into a good position to observe our subject, and think about it’s shape.

Yes and everyone did very well once again. This time we’d be applying watercolour. One colour at a time over the sketch.
What’s so lovely is that everyone is sketching in their own style and using new simple techniques to get a loose fresh look.

Do enjoy the work we did, and do get out and about to sketch the lovely world around us that we can enjoy putting into our books.

See you here again soon.
